Frequently Asked Questions
|
Courses
Q: How do I know what level of Spanish, French, German or Italian I have?
A: On the first day of your chosen language course you will take a level test. Based on the results of your test you will be placed into a group of students with a similar level of the language. The content of the course is then directed towards the needs of the group. Test
Q: How many levels are there?
A: All of our language courses are based on 6 different levels from beginner to advanced level and follow the system approved by the “Common European Framework of Reference for Languages”.
Q: Do I receive a certificate at the end of my course?
A: All students attending an agreed minimum percentage of the course will receive a certificate of attendance and proficiency stating the number of lessons taken and the level of language achieved.
Q: Will there be a mix of nationalities?
A: Our language schools attract a wide range of nationalities from all over the world. Normally no more than 10-20 per cent of the students at the school have English as their first language. This ensures a good international mix and the use of Spanish, French, German or Italian as a common language.
Q: Will the students be the same age as me?
A: Our language schools attract students of all ages but on average most students tend to be between 18 and 26 years old. On our Summer courses for young students most students are of a similar age.
Accommodation
Q: How do you choose your host families?
A: All of our host families are carefully chosen by an accommodation officer at the language school. They visit them on a regular basis and know them very well. Host Families can be couples with children, older couples whose children have left home or single women. If you have any preferences regarding the type of host family you wish to stay with or if you have any dietary requirements then please let us know at the time of booking.
Q: Is there a curfew?
A: Students aged 18 and above are free to come and go as they please. We ask students to respect meal times and to be quiet when coming home late. Students under the age of 18 require written parental consent from their parents and we ask parents to suggest a sensible curfew.
On Summer courses for Young Students there is normally 24-hour supervision.
Q: What if I do not want to stay with a host family?
A: Staying with a host family is the best option from a linguistic point of view as you will continue to communicate in Spanish, French, German or Italian outside of class. However, for students who do not wish to stay with a host family we also offer student residence, shared apartment and hotel accommodation. Please contact us for details.
Q: When can I “check in” at my accommodation?
A: Accommodation is normally reserved from the Sunday before your course starts until the Saturday after it finishes.
Costs
Q: How much will it cost?
A: This depends on how much of your itinerary you would like us to organise. We can organise your language course, accommodation, flights, airport transfers, travel insurance and activities such as surfing or horse-riding. We can organise as much or as little as you require.
Q: How much do the social and cultural activities cost?
